SMS, Varanasi has once again been accorded the A++ rating in the Latest “India’s Best B-School Survey 2012” conducted by Business India.
On the basis of consistent efforts in enrichment of academic input, international exposure to students, excellent summer training and final placement opportunities provided by SMS to its students, Institute has been ranked as A++ category Business School by the ‘Business School Survey’ conducted by the leading corporate journal ‘Business India’.
As per the survey SMS, Varanasi is amongst only three institutes of Uttar Pradesh (leaving NCR) in the elite category of A++ Institutes. In totality there are 70 institutes in A++ Category as an outcome of survey. Moreover SMS has been placed among top five institutes of UP and rated amongst Top-19 institutes in North India and amongst Top-32 in the Northern belt (from Delhi to Kolkata). The survey includes more than 1400 B-schools spread over the country.
School of Management Sciences has always been a pioneer institution for nurturing and grooming the overall personality of its students. Not only in regular studies but also in extra curricular activities, the students have shown their talent on a habitual basis.
On October 13, 2012 ,School of Management Sciences, Varanasi has organized an Intra Institute Quiz Contest. Quiz competition took place with various Undergraduate batches including BBA & BCA Level students with the main objective to encourage students to inculcate deep knowledge and develop their personality in such a way to become a successful professional. Students were asked various questions based on General Awareness, Corporate Issues, Sports, Politics and Entertainment. Activities had taken place in following manner:
General Quiz for BBA Ist Semester Students:
The Quiz was conducted in two Mega rounds. First round was the Preliminary written round in which 40 students participated. Out of them 6 students in the form of 3 teams qualified for the final round of the Quiz. Activity has been Coordinated by Faculty members Dr. Shardul Chaubey, Reader, along with Dr. Ravi Shekhar Vishal. The final round comprised of 5 different rounds on General Knowledge. Winners of the Activity were:

Business Quiz for BBA IIIrd & Vth Semester Students:
Business Quiz Competition took place with BBA IIIrd & Vth Semester Students. In the preliminary round 60 students participated, out of which 12 students reached in final round. Activity has been Coordinated by Faculty members Mr. S. Roy along with Mr. Avinash Supkar (both reader). Sports, Business and various current related questions were asked during interaction. Winners of the Activity were:

General Quiz for BCA Ist Semester Students:
Another activity took place in form of General Quiz for BCA 1st Semester students. In the preliminary round 70 students participated, out of which selected students reached in final round. Activity has been Coordinated by Faculty members Mr. Ram Gopal Gupta, Reader along with Mr. Saurabh Upadhyay, Lecturer. This activity took place in form of online quiz competition. Director of the institute Prof P. N. Jha, Registrar Mr. Sanjay Gupta and other senior faculty members of various departments were present at the test venue to bestow their blessings on the students.
On Saturday October 6, 2012 Mr. Kumar Sahil , Manager –HR , Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd, along with his colleagues Mr. Chandresh Dixit and Mr. Gabbar Rajput visited SMS, Varanasi campus and interacted with PGDM III semester students.
Mr. Kumar Sahil, gave students insight into the career path of management graduates in different functions of FMCG companies. On this occasion he also conducted a workshop in which he gave a case study to the students.
For this purpose the students were divided into groups and each group had to analyze and present their analysis of the case.
At the end of the presentations Mr. Sahil gave feedback to each group.Mr. Sahil was highly impressed with the out of box thinking and fresh ideas of students. While appreciating the fresh perspectives brought in by the students he also urged them to keep this spirit alive in future.
Earlier Dr. Sanjay Saxena , Chairperson, T&P Cell, welcomed the guest, vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Amitabh Pandey.
Mr. D.K. Tripathi, DGM Corporate Relations, Mr. S.K. Tripathi , Sr. Manager Corporate Relations , and Mr. Devashish Mukherjee ,Office Executive T&P Cell, were also present on the occasion.
School of Management Sciences, Varanasi has organized one full day ‘Personality Training & Assessment Workshop’ for PGDM Ist Semester students at SMS Campus. Workshop has been conducted by ABBSCISSA HR Consultancy, New Delhi on 10th Sep, 2012. Mr. B.M. Das, Chief Operating Officer, ABBSCISSA along with Ms. Jayanti Mitra initiated the session. Sessions have been executed by several corporate trainers including Mr. Sanjay Patro, Dr. Rakesh Kumar and Ms. Deepika Shergil.
In full day long training workshop, various personality assessment and developmental activities took place including Numerical Test, Verbal Reasoning, Clerical Aptitude, Map problems, Group Discussion Activities, Story Writing & Personal Interviews. Organizers provided inputs to students on basis of their performances in various activities, on individual basis.
Dr. Sanjay Saxena, Associate Professor, Mr. Amitabh Pandey, Reader along with Mr. D.K. Tripathi, DGM-Corporate Relations & Mr. S.K.Tripathi, Senior Manager-Corporate Affairs facilitated the various activities in workshop
In the recent past the importance and use of information technology has grown tremendously in every stream of academics. Seeing such a requirement of technological update of students and need of portability of information warehouses, School of Management Sciences has been providing Laptop sets to its First Year PGDMs students. Same practice had been maintained by the institution, this year too. It is needless to mention that institution does not charge any addition fee from students, for providing laptops.
Director of institute, Prof P. N. Jha provided the computing machines to the students and congratulated them at this occasion. Moreover Registrar of institute Mr. Sanjay Gupta and PGDM Program Coordinator Dr. Sanjay Saxena and other Senior faculty and staff members had also passed on their well wishes to the students. As we all know, that teacher’s day is celebrated in honour of great teacher, scholar and former president of India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Director of the Institute, Prof. P. N. Jha started the program by lightning the lamp and garlanding the statue of goddess Saraswati along with Registrar, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Dean (Academics) Dr. J. P. Mishra and other senior faculty members.
Like previous years, this year also, our PGDM, MCA, BBA, BCA students presented colorful cultural programs including solo song, solo dance, group songs and group dances etc in honor of their teachers.
Teachers also showcased their respective talents in various categories of events.
Faculty members including Dr. Shardul Choubey, Mr. K. S. Mishra, Dr. Sanjay Saxena, Mr. Shabhu Sharan Srivastava, Mr. Shubhagata Roy, Mr. Abhishek Srivastava and Ms. Indrani Sen Gupta sang during the event.
The unmatched performances by the teachers and the students make the day memorable and everlasting in the memories of all which everyone cherishes.
In the end, teachers are felicitated by the students. This event is the hallmark of teacher –student solidarity in the institution.
