Delegation from Emporia State University , Emporia , USA visited SMS, Varanasi


A two members delegation comprising Dr. Gonzalo Bruce, Assistant Vice president of International Education & Dr. Dipak Ghosh, Professor, School of Business Emporia State University, KS, USA visited SMS, Varanasi on 21st May 2011.

During their visit Dr.Bruce and Dr.Ghosh, explored the possibilities of Academic and Cultural exchange between the two institutions.

Prof P.N. Jha, Director, SMS, Varanasi Dr. Meenakshi Singh , Coordinator , Center for International Relations, and Dr. Sanjay Saxena along with Mr. Amitabh Pandey were present in the meeting .

Dr. Meenakshi Singh, Coordinator,CIR ,SMS Varanasi had been instrumental in setting the stage for mutual dialogue and cooperation between two Institutions.

Some facts about ESU:

ESU is a public university fully accredited by North Central Association Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. ESU offers more than 180 degrees at the Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. level through its four Colleges: Teachers College, College of Arts and Sciences, The School of Business, and the School of Library and Information Management.

School of Business, Emporia State University is AACSB-accredited at the Bachelor of Art (B.A.) and MBA level. This prestigious accreditation has been awarded to only 30 percent of Business Schools in the U.S. and 5 percent of business schools in the world.
ESU currently serves 6,000 students in nationally and internally recognized academic programs.

ESU is an international campus. About 8 percent of its student population is international. In addition, ESU faculty comes from all the world, including five faculty members from India in the School of Business.

ESU is located in the city of Emporia, in close proximity to three major metropolitan areas: Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City.

Yet another international feat achieved by SMS Group, SMS signs MoU with Szent Istvan University, Hungary

In yet another milestone, Center for International Relations ,School of Management Sciences (SMS) signed a MoU with Godolo,Hungary based Szent Istvan University and Károly Róbert College, here at its campus on Friday through which the faculty and students of SMS group of Institutions would be benefited in terms of Faculty exchange, students’ exchange and other co-curricular and academic activities.

As per the MoU signed, both institutions will try to conduct lectures, conferences, internships, workshops, joint projects with business and industry in India and Hungary,and various other professional development programmes.

A joint project on SMEs is being explored first under the above arrangement.

On the auspicious occasion, Prof. Mahesh Kumar Singh, Coordinator-International Business Affairs, Szent Istvan University, was present at the SMS campus. He launched the corporate film of the SMS Group of Institutions. He urged the student community to keep on embracing the rich Indian culture and ethos and follow values in life, which SMS preaches and follows.

It is worth mentioning that SMS is surging ahead on the Global platform owing to its special inclination for Indian wisdom and values education being imparted to the young professionals in the Management, Computer Applications and Engineering fields in various courses spread across its two campuses in Varanasi and Lucknow.

With selfless and untiring efforts of Dr. Meenakshi Singh , Coordinator Center for International Relations, SMS Varanasi has already tied up with three more universities around the world earlier, two in the USA (Claflin University, Orangeburg, USA and California State University, San Bernardino,USA) and one in Brazil (Universidade Estadual Paulista, Brazil).

Dr. Meenakshi Singh, Coordinator of Center for International Relations, SMS Varanasi had been instrumental in signing of the MOU and conduction of the program.
Vote-of-thanks was presented by Registrar, Mr. Sanjay Gupta. Chairman, Training & Placement, Dr. Sanjay Saxena introduced SMS to the Guest who was welcomed by the Executive Secretary, SMS Dr. M. P. Singh and Director Prof. P. N. Jha.

Prof Mahesh Kumar Singh, Coordinator for International and Business Affairs,Szent Istvan University, Gödöllő, Hungary will visit SMS, Varanasi

Prof Mahesh Kumar Singh , Coordinator for International and Business Affairs, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Szent Istvan University, Hungary will be visiting SMS, Varanasi on 12th and 13th of May 2011. We extend our heartiest welcome to Prof Mahesh Kumar Singh on his first visit to SMS, Varanasi.

During his visit Prof Singh will be signing the MOU between SMS, Varanasi and Szent Istvan University, Gödöllő, Hungary for Cooperation between both the institutions in the areas of Student Exchange , Faculty Exchange, Joint Project as well as conduction of Joint Seminar, Workshop and conferences.

About Prof Mahesh Kumar Singh:

Dr. Mahesh Kumar Singh is Pioneer as well as Director of Tata Centre of Excellence, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Szent Istvan University as well as coordinator for International and Business Affairs at the Faculty. He was Visiting Scholar at various universities: Bonn University, Germany, Mendal University, Czech Republic, Yasar University, Turkey, Ege University, Turkey, Maribor University, Slovenia, Krakow University, Poland, North Dakota State University, USA, Delhi School of Economics, India, Indian Institute of Finance, India, Birla Institute of Management and Technology, India, Banaras Hindu University, Varanashi, India, Kathmandu University, Nepal, Trivuban University, Nepal etc. Mr. Singh is member of several international journal’s editorial board e.g. Delhi Business Review, DSM Business Review, Sub-Editor and Head of Reviewing Board for Cereal Research Communication, an International Journal. He was Invited Keynote speaker and chairman at several International and National Conferences, Workshop and world congress. He Published, book chapters and more than 70 Scientific Research Papers in National and International conferences, journals and reviews. About Szent Istvan University, Gödöllő, Hungary:

Szent István University is one of the most outstanding higher educational institutions in Hungary. More than 18,000 students study in the 7 campuses of the university. SMS,Varanasi students going to Claflin University, Orangeburg,USA as Transient Students

Friends join me in congratulating Vipul Kumar Sharma(PGIB II Sem), Vikas Kumar Varma(PGDM II Sem) and Abhishek Kumar Dubey (PGIB II Sem) for being accepted as transient student into the Claflin University MBA Program for Summer 2011,

As transient students they will be permitted to enroll for a maximum of 10 Semester Hours at School of Business, Claflin Universty, Orangeburg, USA.

In this duration the students will also undergo Summer Internship in Companies located in South Carolina, USA.

It is worth mentioning that School of Management Sciences , Varanasi and Claflin University , Orangeburg, USA have signed Bil-lateral Agreement for collaboration in different areas including students Exchange and this is the second time that students of SMS, varanasi will be going to Claflin University as Transient Students. Last year 4 students of SMS, Varanasi studied a semester in Claflin University ,Orangeburg ,USA where as three students of Claflin University alongwith Prof Benjamin Yumol, Director , MBA Program , Claflin University visited SMS, Varanasi.

SMS Group of Institutions Signed MOU with California State University , San Bernardino, USA


SMS Group of Institutions, Varanasi & Lucknow Signed MOU with California State University, San Bernardino,USA.The MOU was Signed by Prof. M. Mehrotra ,Director, SMS Lucknow and Prof. Albert Karnig ,Third President of CSUSB. Prof Vipin Gupta, Co-Director of Global Management Centre, CSUSB, Dr. Meenakshi Singh,Cordinator,Centre for International Relations & Mr. Amitabh Pandey,SMS Varanasi were present on the occasion.


In the MOU Signed between SMS Group of Institutions and California State University, San Bernardino, USA, both the Institutions agreed to cooperate in the areas of Student Exchange,Faculty Exchange ,Joint Research,Joint Conduction of Seminars,Conferences and workshops including Short term study visits and Internships.


This fourth International Collaboration by SMS Varanasi reconfirms our Global Commitment, character and presence , the other three Billateral collaborations are with Claflin University, South Carolina, USA; UNESP,Brazil and SZENT ISTVAN UNIVERSITY, Hungary.

SMS, Varanasi explored possibility of collaboration with Otto Von Guericke Universitat Magdeburg, Germany.

In a recent development a three members team from School of Management Sciences,Varanasi comprising of  Dr. Sanjay Saxena ,Dr.Meenakshi Singh and Mr. Amitabh Pandey met Prof. Michael Schenk, Managing Director of Institute of Logistics and Material Handling System, Otto Von Guericke Universitat Magdeburg, Germany and discussed the possibility of joint research in the areas of factory automation, logistics and material handling and process management etc .

Prof Michael was accompanied by Dr. Jorg Scharf Vice President Sales, FAM (Forderanlagen Magdeburg), Germany.

Both the sides agreed to cooperate on the above mentioned areas and also decided to jointly provide for continuous interface between Industrialists and Academia of both the countries.
