On 21st June, 2019 School of Management Sciences Varanasi celebrated ‘International Yoga day’ in its campus. Yoga session was conducted in presence of famous Yoga-Guru of Varanasi, Dr. Shailendra. Session was attended by the all the faculty and staff members along with few students of the institute.
Session started with the welcome address by Prof. Sandeep Singh Dean – Development and Students Affairs, Head of Department – Management and Chairperson – CSHEwho expressed thanks to the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for reestablishing importance of yoga in the world. He also expressed thanks to Dr. Shailendra for sharing his precious time with SMS Varanasi staff. Prof. Singh highlighted the importance and need of yoga in our daily life.
in the session Dr. Shailendra shared his valuable experiences as yoga teacher and motivated the participants to practice yoga as a part of their daily routine. He demonstrated all important yoga steps which were also practiced by the participants. Besides traditional yoga poses and pranayama he also discussed about the importance of diet, yog nidra and do’s and don’ts for a good yoga practitioner.
One week ‘Techno Camp-2019’ started at SMS Varanasi campus on 15th June, 2019 and ended on 21st June, 2019 under the banner of Live Wire- Technical Club of SMS Varanasi. The event held with the concept ‘No Barrier between you & Technology’ and more than 30 participants of diffident courses like BBA, BCA, MCA, BMS etc. from different institutions have participated. The event held under the coordination of Mr. Ram Gopal Gupta, Associate Professor & Coordinator- LiveWIre Technical, SMS Varanasi.
The program started with the welcome speech by Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS Varanasi. He congratulated the participants for joining the program and wished them for the best possible knowledge in the upcoming one week time of the workshop. The program witnessed the grand presence of participants from various institutions of Varanasi and from other cities and states like IET Lucknow, Mumbai University.
Techno Camp-2019 designed with two tracks-
Track: 1:- 28- hours Java Foundation course
Track: 2:- 28- hours Web Development using PHP + MySql
The methodology of content delivery in all the tracks of Techno Camp was practical oriented. At the end of each session, online assessment was conducted so that progress can be monitored.
On 22nd June, 2019 a final online assessment was taken for the Track-1 & Track-2, on the basis of this assessment TOP- 3 of each track separately announced by Prof. P. N. Jha, Director & Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Registrar, SMS Varanasi. Certificate of Participation, TOP-3 of each track Trophies distributed by Prof. P. N. National Workshop on “Discovering Statistics through SPSS and EXCEL for Crafting Cutting Edge Research @ SMS Varanasi
Centre for Advance Research & Development, School of Management Science, Varanasi organized seven days (June03-10, 2019) National Workshop on “Discovering Statistics through SPSS & EXCEL for Crafting Cutting Edge Research”. The eminent resource person for this workshop is Prof. G.P. Singh, Department of Statistics, lnstitute of Science Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of lamp by Prof. P.N. Jha, Director – School of Management Sciences, Varanasi, Shri Sanjay Gupta, Registrar – School of Management Sciences, Varanasi, Prof. R.K. Singh, Chairperson – CEISD & Programme Coordinator , Mr Kartikeya Singh Assistant Professor School of Management Sciences and Prof.G.P. Singh Professor, Banaras Hindu University. Thereafter Prof. P. N. Jha presented his Welcome Address on the inaugural session by welcoming all the participants from all over the lndia and thrown light on the changing dynamics of researches in the various dimensions of higher education specially in the field of Social Sciences with a severe need of genuine application oriented approach towards the society. Over Forty Faculties and Research Scholars from the various Universities and lnstitutes of all over the lndia are participating in this National Workshop . ln the workshop all participants will be trained in customized manner on various theoretical and practical aspects and applications of the SPSS and EXCEL on separate system for every participants which will help them in the updation and upgradation of their research work.
Convener of the Workshop Prof R. K. Singh presented the theme of Workshop whereas Coordinator of Workshop Mr. Kartikeya Singh illustrated the entire programme format to be conducted in the various sessions of the entire seven days national workshop. On this occasion Registrar Mr Sanjay Gupta, Faculties Mr. Veeresh Triptahi ,Mr. Vikash Chandra Sharma, Mr. Amit Bhanja, Mr. Purnendu Patra, Mr. Aviral Mishra and Dr. Abhishek Kumar were present. Dr. Veenita Singh has conducted and coordinated the entire inaugural session of the workshop.
School of Management Sciences, Varanasi organized “Skill Development Workshop” for Class IV Employees. The motive behind this workshop was to make class IV employees aware about Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) scheme and its benefits.
The key resource person for this workshop was Mr. Kartikeya Singh Assistant Professor at School of Management Science Varanasi. He discussed in detail about Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), where he touched the topic like automobile, electronic, health care, hospitality, telecommunication, and told them about availability of avenues in these sectors. Mr Singh also told them that one can also go for part timejob in these sectors through PMKVY without leaving his current job, so that they can increase their source of income and improve their social status.
This workshop also witnessed the other staff member of SMS Varanasi, they were Mr. Atanu Mukhopadhyay Administrative Officer, Mr. Ajay Singh Sr. Supervisor and Mr R.B Verma.
Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights : In the current perspectives of researches of higher education
A one day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights: In the Current Perspectives of Researches in Higher Education was organised on 6th May for the faculty members in the conference hall. It was the first programme under the aegis of CARD, Centre for Advance Research And Development, School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi.
The workshop began by lighting the lamp and garlanding the statue of goddess Saraswati. Thereafter, an insightful welcome address was given by Prof. P. N. Jha, director, School of Management Sciences, Varanasi wherein he emphasised that it is a matter of intellectual consciousness that SMS is organizing a workshop on such a contemporary and highly demanding issue. He further added that we were fortunate enough to get an insight on IPR from Prof. R. K. Murali.
Mr. Jha reiterated that IP has all the potential to breed material property as well and further stressed that we as teachers should know how to address any situation that come across us regarding violation of IPR.”
The key note speaker of the workshop was Prof. R. K. Murali, Professor, Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He discussed in detail about the various concepts associated with Intellectual Property Rights like trademarks, patents, copyrights etc.
He opined that a trademark is a mark, which is used in trade, and it should be distinctive which enables the customer to identify the product in a market amongst various other products. He further elaborated about patent which is an agreement between the person’s inventions and government bodies. He added that “Inventions those are novel are Patents and a new form of a known substance cannot be patents unless and until it is efficacious”.
Dr. R. K. Murali also explained some of the important terms used in IPR i.e. licensing & agreement, exclusive licensing and non- exclusive licensing, sole licensing, parallel importation, infringement, passing off, goodwill, reputation, etc.
Prof. Murali was felicitated by Prof. P. N. Jha, director, SMS and the vote of thanks was given by Prof. R. K. Singh, Dean (R&D) & Chairperson CARD, SMS Varanasi. The Programme was coordinated by Dr. Bhavana Singh, Assistant Professor, SMS Varanasi.
