Yoga Session on Activity Day
Centre for Spiritual & Human Enrichment organized yoga session for Faculty and Students of institute on Activity day, Jan 31, 2019. The session was taken by Dr. Amit Kishore Sinha, Associate Professor, SMS Varanasi.
In this session Dr. Sinha shared his valuable experiences and importance of yoga in day-to-day life, he also motivated the participants to practice yoga as a part of their daily routine. He demonstrated all important yoga steps which were also practiced by the participants. Yoga session started with body rotation and warm-up exercises followed by yoga poses and pranayama steps. Lastly meditation was experienced by the participants. Besides traditional yoga poses and pranayama Dr. Sinha also discussed about the importance of diet and do’s and don’ts for a good yoga practitioner.
Chartered Accountant-A Skill Based Entrepreneurial Avenue
SMS Varanasi organized one day workshop on “Chartered Accountant-A Skill Based Entrepreneurial Avenue” on Januray 29, 2019 for the B.com students. The key resource person for this workshop was CA Atul Seth Chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountant of India Varanasi.
This workshop begins with welcome address by Prof. R.K. Singh Professor, Dean (R&D) &Chairperson CEISD, SMS Varanasi. Thereafter brief detail about B.Com program was elucidated by Mr. Atish Kadse Coordinator B.Com program at SMS Varanasi. CA Atul Seth told students about importance of charted accountant as career option, he also said that this career option shouldn’t been seen as mere a job but this should be seen as skill based entrepreneurial avenue, it is an option which not only give freedom to work by practicing as individual but also provide jobs to many other job seekers in the market.

70th Republic Day Program held at SMS Varanasi
SMS Varanasi celebrated 70th Republic Day with great zeal and enthusiasm at SMS Varanasi Campus. Program started with the motivating speech by Prof. P.N. Jha, Director, School of Management Sciences Varanasi. In his speech he welcomed the faculty members, staff members and students. He discussed about the recent achievements of India in the areas of ‘ease of doing business’. He mentioned that India has taken a big jump and reached to the position of 77th place among all participating countries. He has also mentioned that according to International agencies India is expected to attain GDP over and above 7.5 mark. He has also mentioned another side of country’s position. He expressed his concern towards education system in India. He shared his empathy about the condition of India’s primary and secondary education.
After the flag hoisting, vibrant cultural programs were presented by students of BBA, BCA, B.Com, M.Com, PGDM, MBA & MCA batches. SMS Varanasi campus echoed with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. Cultural Programs were coordinated by Dr. Pallavi Pathak, Associate Professor, SMS Varanasi. All the faculty members, staff and students of different courses were present in the function. At the end of the program sweets and snacks were also given to the students and staff members. A group of students under guidance of Prof. K.S. Mishra and Mr. Anand Prakash Dube distributed the cloths in the slump areas of Varanasi.
School of Management Sciences, Varanasi organised “Virtual Stock Trading Competition” under the guidance of Mr. Rohit Mehta, Asst. Professor from 01st November 2018 to 25th January 2019. The competition took place on simulation platform of moneybhai.moneycontrol.com. Hundred students participated in the competition from various courses including PGDM, MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA and B.COM.
The aim of the competition was to inculcate the basic stock trading knowledge among the students and to upgrade them with portfolio management services related to stock market. The winner was Mr. Tarandeep Singh MBA 4th with portfolio value of Rs. 10,832,660, followed by Ms. Ayushi Jain MBA 4th with portfolio value of Rs. 10,356,168. At third position Mr. Vaibhav Rajput with portfolio value RS 10,189,184 PGDM 4th. . Winner of the event was provided cash prize of Rs. 5,000. Cash prize of Rs. 3,000 was provided for second position and Rs. 2,000 for the third position.
Cloth Distribution Programme-2019
On the occasion of 70th Republic Day, 26th January 2019, a Cloth distribution Programme was organized under the banner of RAINBOW CLUB (Social Welfare Club) of School Of Management Sciences, Varanasi. On this occasion good condition used clothes were distributed to the weaker and needy community of the society. Prof. Kamalsheel Mishra (Coordinator RAINBOW CLUB), Mr. Anand Prakash Dubey (Associate Professor, SMS Varanasi) along with the students from various courses including MCA, BCA, MBA, PGDM, BBA, M.COM, B.COM. & BA (Mass Comm.) participated in the program. The clothes were distributed in the nearby locality of Samne Ghat, Sankat Mochan Temple and Kushth Ashram Varanasi.
January 23, 2019 – Pravasi Bhartiya welcomed at SMS Campus
SMS Varanasi welcomed Pravasi Bhartiya and Canadia-India Global Firm British Columbia President and Government Relations 3A International Technology Vice President Mr. Aditya Tawatia at its campus on January 23, 2019, where he interacted with the students of various courses. Prof. P.N. Jha Director SMS welcomed the guest and also told about the various academic achievement of SMS Varanasi.
Mr. Tawatia is native of western Uttar Pradesh and completed his engineering degree from New-Delhi, while interacting with the students he told about his struggle to success journey. He also focused and elucidated the certain trait such as character-building, honesty, humility, and aspect of Indian sacraments, which are very much required to reach at phenomenal success in one’s life. He discussed about various opportunities which are available in India-Canada regarding education and employment, Indian student should take advantage of such opportunities and grow themselves; which will further leads to the development of Indian economy.

School of Management Sciences, Varanasi held an impressive function to celebrate its Annual Sports Day, from 11th to 13th January, ‘SPORTS FEST – 2019’ under the aegis of Crest Club led by Mr. Sunit Mishra, Assistant Professsor, SMS, Varanasi. Inaugurating the event, Prof. P. N Jha, Director SMS, Varanasi, said that sports helped in enhancing concentration, enhanced memory, stimulates creativity and better ability of problem solving skills in students. With the help of various sports, students develop connections that bond together people from all walks of life and make them responsible citizens. He further appealed students that wherever they go, they must carry the sportsman spirit with them. Earlier, welcoming Sri. Sanjay Kumar Gupta, Registrar, SMS, Varanasi, Mr. Atanu Mukhopadhyay, Administrative Officer, SMS, Varanasi, and all the faculty members and the participants, Prof. P. N Jha (Director, SMS, Varanasi) said that sports aims at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie to students. He also said that these events bring out the latent talent, and inculcates the feeling of getting involved, participation, team spirit in the students. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of sports in providing health, wealth and happiness in the life of students.
He further opined that the event will help students in grooming their personality and will make them more proactive and practical oriented in the contemporary competitive dynamic business environment. Sir declared the meet open by lighting the Sports Torch followed by Oath taking ceremony in which the students solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship.
On this occasion Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, 100 Meter Race, Tug of War, Table Tennis, Carom, Chess etc., were organized in which students from all the courses participated with great zeal and vigor. Students exhibited their talent and skill along with team spirit in all the dimensions of the sport.

Later in the valedictory session Prof. P.N Jha (Director, SMS, Varanasi) presented the winners under different categories with trophies and certificates.
