ICICI Stockmind Season – 6 Conducted by ICICI School of Financial Learning in association with CNBC TV18 and NISM.
Stockmind Season – 6 a national level contest was launched in School of Management Sciences, Varanasi. Mr. Nantu Mahapatra (Regional Marketing Executive (Delhi & UP)) and Mr. Gyaneshwar Singh (Branch Head ICICI Securities Ltd, Varanasi) from ICICI have introduced the contest. The contest was organized in association with CNBC TV18 and NISM. PGDM, MBA and B.Com students have participated in the contest.
School of Management Sciences, Varanasi held three days exciting function to celebrate its Annual Sports Day, ‘SPORT FEST-2017’ under the banner of Crest ‘Sports Club’. SMS Varanasi students have been fortunate to have auspicious presence and blessings of Lt. Gen. M M Lakhera, Former Governor Mizoram. He appreciated and motivated the students for their zeal and enthusiasm for the event. He appealed to students that games should be played with sportsman spirit irrespective of win or defeat.
Earlier welcoming the chief guest and participants, Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS Varanasi, said that Sports acts as a catalyst in overall development of the students. The Chief Guest declared the meet open by lighting the Sports Torch followed by Oath taking ceremony in which the students solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship.
On the occasion Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, 100 Meter Race, Tug of War, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess were organized in which students from all the courses participated with great zeal and vigor. Students exhibited their talent and skill along with team spirit in all the dimension of the sport. Students from all the courses an batches including PGDM, MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA, B.Com and BA (Mass Comm) participated in the competition.
Later in the Valedictory session Prof. P. N. Jha appreciated the winners and gave them trophies and certificates. Event has taken place under coordination of Mr. Sunit Kumar Mishra, Assistant Professor, SMS Varanasi with the remarkable support of faculty and staff members. Dr. M. P. Singh (Executive Secretary, SMS Varanasi) appreciated the students and faculty members for their commendable efforts in different games. Inaugural and Valedictory sessions were coordinated by Dr. Pallavi Pathak, Assistant Professor, SMS Varanasi.

School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi celebrated its 23rd Foundation day on Friday, November 10, 2017 with full gaiety and fervor amidst a plethora of cultural and competitive events (Solo song & Dance, Antakshari, Rangoli, Ad & Poster making and Business Quiz) in which twenty one teams from Varanasi and nearby places participated apart from the host team and sister institution team of SMS Technical Campus, Lucknow. Inaugurating the daylong event, the Chief Guest Prof. P. Nag (Honourable VC, MGKV Varanasi) congratulated the SMS family on achieving greater heights in quest for excellence, as demonstrated through NAAC ‘A-grade’ rating recently, and said that the excellence of SMS creates ripple effect in the region and other institutions are bound to be impacted by the same. He sought the cooperation of SMS in elevation of academic standards of the University. He added, that for such a quest, teaching-learning mechanism has to integrate ‘machine learning’.
Further he exhorted the SMS fraternity to review what new parameters could be added for the soon-to-come Silver Jubilee of the Institution. Exposing students to healthy competition like the one here makes the ambience more competitive and hence conducive to growth, he exclaimed! He wished the Institution good luck in near future in quest for all round excellence. Later, he also presented the Veerendra Kumari Memorial SMS Gold medal to Ms. Riddhi Singh (B. Com. University Topper of MGKV 2017).
Earlier, the Director of SMS Varanasi, Prof. P. N. Jha welcomed the dignitaries on this occasion. He said SMS cannot be imagined without its founder mentor Prof. Mukund lal. The recent attribution of A grade (first B-school of Purvanchal and adjoining region to get this) is a living testimonial of the Institutional excellence on all fronts, he added. He said that SMS family is ready to define newer heights with full vigour, energy, thought and guidance.
On this occasion, the sixth issue of the UGC indexed journal ‘SMS Journal of Entrepreneurship & Innovation’ was released by the Chief Guest. SMS management honoured its 22 employees for rendering services for 20, 15 and 10 years continuously. Among them were 5 teachers (Shri RR Singh, Shri Amitabh pandey, Shri AK Sinha, Dr. Aditya K Gupta and Dr. Pallavi Pathak), 9 non-teaching staff and 8 Grade-IV employees. Later, a cultural night was organized in the campus featuring Joginder Singh Mehdi.
The Guests were honoured by the Executive Secretary SMS Society Dr. M. P. Singh. Dr. (Mrs.) Pallavi Pathak coordinated the Inaugural session while the vote-of-thanks was presented by Prof K S Mishra. More than 1200 people were present in the campus during the day-long event. The programme manager and Registrar, Shri Sanjay Gupta, Adharshila Convener Prof. Sandeep Singh, Dean R&D Prof. Alok Kumar, Chairperson-CEISD, Prof. RK Singh was also present.
