SMS Varanasi Celebrated 68th Republic Day
68th Republic Day celebration began with the inspiring speech by Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, School of Management Sciences Varanasi.
In his deliberation he expressed his thankfulness towards freedom fighters whether their name is known or unknown to society. He said that Mahatma Gandhi was worried about four issues even before independence- Injustice in society, Administrative challenges, Problems of poor and exploitation by rich. Gandhiji was of the opinion that such problems can be resolved only with the good education system. Good education includes learning for brain, learning for heart and learning for hands.
Prof. Jha said that present education system in India is still unable to maintain good balance among these three components. Prof. Jha also discussed about recent government policies including demonetization and clean India program.
After the flag hoisting colorful cultural programs had also been presented by students of BBA, BCA, B.Com, PGDM, MBA & MCA batches.
Students and faculty members presented a number of patriotic songs, dance, speeches and Poems. The institute’s campus reverberated with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm.
Cultural Programs were coordinated by Dr. Pallavi Pathak, Assistant Professor, SMS Varanasi.
All the faculty members, staff and students of different courses including MBA, PGDM, BBA, BCA, MCA & B.Com were present in the function.
At the end of the programme sweets and snacks were given to students and staff members.
School of Management Sciences (SMS), Varanasi has earned 45th rank in the latest B-School survey conducted by ‘Business India’ (Dec 5-8, 2016 issue). This shows SMS Varanasi happens to be one of the top rated institutions to have got this accolade amidst presence of big names. In Uttar Pradesh, it falls next only to IIMLucknow (Rank 6) and IMT-Ghaziabad (Rank 13) and is placed at the 45th spot.
The Director of the Institute Prof. P. N. Jha attributed this wonderful performance, in just 21 years of Existence of the institution, to many factors like hard work of faculty, majority of whom are Doctorates and NET-qualified, excellent academic ambience, and powerful infrastructure in terms of amenities and facilities. He said that SMS Varanasi happens to be one of the few Institutions in the country to publish four Research based journals in different areas of professional education, two of these, ‘Management Insight’ and ‘Purushartha’ are internationally indexed. Fusion of Spirituality and management has been possible with concerted efforts of SMS Varanasi over the past decade.
He further said that our PGDM curriculum is not only robust and contemporary but also flexi-suiting to the different industries of the country. The courses on Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Retail Business, Indian Ethos coupled with hands-on training on latest softwares like SPSS, R, SAS etc. have differentiated us. We provide value and value based education since inception. The placements too have considerably swollen in terms of both numbers and package this year. The Government’s skill development programme and start-up initiatives have also got a boost through SMS Varanasi’s programmes and campaigns, apart from establishing a Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Skill Development being actuated at the campus. This centre is also offering Consultancy Services to the corporate world.
The Central Library of the institute is fully computerized with a store house of over 34 thousand books in addition to e-journals and other online materials for ready references, more than forty full-time faculty members where more than half of them are doctorate degree holders from prestigious institutions of the country. The Executive Secretary of the Institute Dr. M.P. Singh and the Director Prof. P. N. Jha have congratulated all stakeholders on this high national level achievement by SMS, Varanasi.
