National Energy Day @ SMS Varanasi


To mark the National Energy Conservation Day and to create awareness among the people about the importance of energy as well as saving or conserving energy a Programme was organized at School of Management Sciences, Varanasi on 14th December, 2016.During his inaugural address Director of the Institute Prof.P.N Jha said that country has witnessed two revolutions, one is consumerism and another is environmentalism. We have achieved milestone in consumerism but the later one is yet to be achieved. He said that environmentalism is directly linked with every individual and we have to inculcate the habit of conserving the same. He further added that economic development has propelled the growth of the country along with having adverse effect on environment. He focused on sustainable growth in order to preserve the energy resources for our future generation.

During his deliberation Prof.Sandeep Singh said that industrialization has adversely affected the environment and this is the high time to change our habit and act accordingly. Prof.Alok Kumar counted the efforts of Indian Railways along with SMS, Varanasi towards energy conservation through installation solar panels. Dr.Raj Kumar Singh expressed his concern over the transmission loss and presented with the statistical data of various Asian countries pertaining to same.

Jhanvi Vajpayee, student of B.Com 1st Year also presented her views on Energy Conservation. Programme was conducted by Mr.Saurabh Srivastava (Assistant Professor, SMS Varanasi) and vote of thanks was given by Prof.Kamal Sheel Mishra.
