Business Model Contest at SMS, Varanasi


A Business Model Contest was organized at SMS, Varanasi on 20th November, 2015 for the students of PGDM and MBA students. Students from both the programs participated in the contest with great zeal and vigor. A total of 14 Business Models were presented in the event.

Earlier during his welcome address Prof.P.N Jha (Director, SMS-Varanasi) extended a very welcome to the guests and advocated the importance of entrepreneurship in the today’s complex competitive environment. He also said that such contests are the essence of Management Education in any B-School.


Dignitaries present on the occasion were Shri Yogendra Singh – DGM, Union Bank of India, Prof.S K Singh- Ex-Head & Dean FMS-BHU, Prof.PK Mishra, Department of Chemical Engineering &Secretary & Coordinator, Malviya Center of Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship, IIT-BHU, and Er.Amitabh Singh – MD, Sorreal Systems (P) Ltd & Ex-President, Eastern UP Exporters Association.

During his address Mr.Yogendra Kumar (DGM, Union Bank of India-FGMO Varanasi) praised and remarked the business models and on behalf of Union Banks of India, he was ready to fund some of the business models. He also said that these types of contests develop a bundle of entrepreneurial skills in the students. He also presented his individual analysis of all the business plans individually and focused on the feasibility and viability of the projects.

Prof.P.K Mishra who takes care of Incubation & Entrepreneurship at BHU was highly impressed by the presentation of different business models reiterated that few of the projects can be implemented with immediate effect.

The winners of the contest were provided with Cash Prize as per below:-

8 consolation prizes along with participation certificates were also provided to motivate the spirit of the students. Programme was coordinated by Assistant Prof.Veeresh Tripathi and vote of thanks was given by Professor Raj Kumar Singh.

On the occasion, the top management of the institute including Executive Secretary Dr.M.P Singh, Registrar, Shri Sanjay Gupta and other senior faculty members were present to boost the morale of the students.
