Annual Conference of Quality Circle Forum of India

Quality Circle 1

3rd VRCCQC-2015, a one day conference on Quality Concept Education Programme was organized in School of Management Sciences, Varanasi on 27th September 2015 in collaboration with Quality Circle Forum of India. Quality Circle Forum of India being an International group of 13 countries continuously work on the improvement of quality in education and industries and organizes workshops through its 26 branches and Varanasi Chapter of same is a prominent one. During his inaugural address Mr.S.S Kashyap (D.R.M North Eastern Railway) said that implementation of quality concept in Micro Small and Medium enterprises will accelerate the industrial growth and will relate to the main theme of Make in India.

While inaugurating Quality Concept Education Workshop, Shri.Radhey Mohan (Director, UP Power Corporation Lucknow) advocated on the important contribution of social groups in the development of society. He further advocated that an overall development strategy is required to bring India on the platform of developed countries and same can be achieved only by the dissemination of quality education in the society. Distinguished Guest Professor P.N Jha (Director, SMS Varanasi) focused on the importance of quality education and stated the contribution of SMS, Varanasi in dissemination of quality concept education in students.

400 representatives of more than 60 teams from BHEL,SAIL,HINDALCO,BAJAAJ GROUP,ADANI GROUP,BIRLA GROUP,JP CEMENT PARLE presented the various quality based model along with the students of SMS,Varanasi.
Focusing on various dimensions of management education, Mr. Sanjay Gupta (Registrar, SMS, and Varanasi) said that blending management education with quality and experiential learning will lead India to compete on international front.

Workshop on Business Analytics at SMS Varanasi


A five-day’s workshop on ‘Business Analytics using SAS’ for held at School of Management Sciences, Varanasi from 27th September, 2015 to 1st October, 2015. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Shubham Pandey on behalf of Intaglio Solutions, New Delhi. The intent of this workshop was to acquaint the PGDM-III Semester students with various dimensions of business analytics and the statistical tool ‘SAS’.

At the end of the course, the participants were be able to understand the role of business analytics within an organization, Analyze data using statistical tools and data mining techniques and understand relationships between the underlying business processes of an organization. They were also trained to use various decision-making tools, some advanced analytical tools to analyze complex problems under uncertainty, manage business processes using analytical and management tools, use analytics in customer requirement analysis, general management, marketing, finance, operations and supply chain management.
The students were given various case studies to analyze and solve problems from different industries such as manufacturing, service, retail, software, banking and finance, sports, pharmaceutical, aerospace etc.
The workshop was arranged by Mr. Rishi Raman Singh (Coordinator, PGDM Programme) and Mr. Shubhagata Roy (Assistant Professor, SMS, Varanasi).

10 days workshop on. NET TECHNOLOGY was organized in SMS, Varanasi



A 10 days workshop on. NET TECHNOLOGY was organized in SMS, Varanasi from 26th Sept 2015 to 5th October 2015. Workshop was organized by Agile Softech Private Limited for the students of MCA 5th Semester. Mr.Santosh Chaudhary (Project Manager-Agile Softech Pvt.Ltd) was the trainer for the workshop .The 10 days long workshop focused on various concepts of. NET TECHNOLOGY comprising of:-

1. Database Concepts
2. SQL and PL/SQL Programming (Procedure, function, cursor etc.)
3. C# Programming
4. Collection reflection
5. Assembly, ADO.NET
6. Connectivity with Oracle and SQLServer
8. AJAX, JQuery, LINQ
9. Framework WPF, WCF, CSS etc

Earlier in the inauguration of the workshop Mr.Kamalsheel Mishra (Dean, Computer Sciences) presented the trainer with floral bouquet and advocated about the importance of the workshop for the overall development of the students.

Guest Lecture Series at SMS Varanasi


As a part of Guest Lecture Series, Prof B.P. Singh (Former Professor & Dean, Delhi School of Economics) visited SMS, Varanasi from 18th to 21st September 2015. During the series of lectures he interacted with the students of PGDM and MBA (1st and 3rd Semester) and discussed various aspects of management education and contemporary practices in business world. In his deliberation he emphasized that today the need of the corporate is not to recruit a manager but a Leader-Manager. Prof. Singh highlighted that today the professional managers should not only manage but also lead. He also explained to the students the difference between Efficiency and Effectiveness and stressed on practical learning.
Speaking on the aspects of Organizational Behavior, he started her interesting talk by throwing light on the difference between a team and a group as one of the most basic yet the most confused terms in the organizational context through a comparison between a cricket team and a class of students. He stressed on the importance of Human Skills in the life of managers as well as entrepreneurs. It was emphasized that need for a manager to have good people skills increases as he climbs up the ladder of success in an organization. He explained that it is behavioral skills which define your strengths and weaknesses ultimately defining your role in an organization. At the end of the lecture series Prof. P.N. Jha, Director SMS, Varanasi felicitated Prof. Singh with memento as a token of love and affection. Present on the occasion were Prof. Sandeep Singh (Dean Student’s Welfare), Prof. Alok Kumar (Dean Research and Development), Prof. Rajkumar Singh and other faculty members of the institute.

Mr. Ashok Batra, Vice President HR-GD Foods interacted with SMS Varanasi students


As a part of guest lecture series Mr. Ashok Batra, Vice President HR-GD Foods MFG (I) ltd visited SMS, Varanasi on 9th Sept 2015 to interact with PGDM and MBA 3rd semester students. During his interaction with the students he focused on hard work as the main tool for success. He further said that effective communication and presentation skills are the pillars for success in corporate world and gave tips to the students pertaining to same. He also advocated the importance of good health for attaining pinnacle in life. He primarily focused on the co-ordination of following factors for achieving success:-

• Teamwork
• Motivation
• Inspiration
• Leadership
• Vision
• Innovation

He said that hard work and destiny always kick us like football, but actually they send us near our goal. During his deliberation he also shared his own industry experiences with students by quoting his personal experiences while facing variety of corporate challenges. Present on the occasion were Prof. P.N. Jha, Director SMS Varanasi, Prof. Sandeep Singh (Dean Student’s Welfare), Prof. Alok Kumar (Dean Research and Development), Prof. Rajkumar Singh, Mr.DK Tripathi (GM-Training and Placement) along with other faculty members.
