Apart from the daily academic practices, SMS Varanasi encourages the students to take part in extra- curricular activities. Such activities bring several opportunities for the overall development of the students’ personality.
with this objective, SMS Varanasi has arranged a series of extra curricular activities on September 30, 2014 , so as to give opportunity to the students to get acquainted and show case as well as hone their creativity and talent in sports, sudoku, cartoon making, mimicry, photography etc.
These activities have been organized for the students under the aegis of different activity clubs like Synergy (The Literary Club), Contrast (Creative Club) , Rainbow Club (Social Welfare Club), Panorama- The shutter-bugs club, Spark (Performing Arts & Cultural Club) , Crest (Sports Club).
The activity day at SMS varanasi campus on September 30, 2014 witnessed enthusiastic participation from the PGDM, MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA students of the institute.
On 27th september 2014, BCA III semester students organised a fresher’s party for the BCA I semester students. The event was named “Parichay 2014”. The event started by the garlanding statue of Goddess “Saraswati” and Lamp lightening ceremony by Dean Computer Science Shri Kamal Sheel Mishra, Shri Rajeev Katare Coodinator BCA Programme and other faculty members including Shri Alok Kumar,Shri Shambhu Sharan Srivastava, Shri A.P. Dubey.
During this event BCA I and III semester came on the same platform and with each other’s help students showcased their best performance in the respective fields of interest.
Not only students but teachers showed best of themselves by singing songs for their students.
Hemant Dwivedi and and Meghna Mukharjee were crowned Mr. Fresher & Miss Fresher respectively. Orijit Ghosh was declared the Best Peformer.
Excellent cooperation and enthusiastic participation of students from both the years made this event a great success.
The students of the BBA (2013-16) batch organized “La Fiesta De Freshers″ a fresher’s welcome party for their Juniors (BBA Batch 2014-17) at the SMS Varanasi campus on September 26, 2014 .
The programme started with lamp lighting and garlanding the statue of Goddess Saraswati by Director Dean Management Sciences Dr. Sanjay Saxena,Dean- R&D Shri Alok Kumar,Coordinator-BBA Programme Shri Atish Khadse , followed by welcome address by Dr. Sanjay Saxena.
“La Fiesta De Freshers″ filled with Music,dance,songs,laughter helped in breaking the ice between the seniors and juniors, It also gave the juniors a platform to showcase their talents.
The senior batch had put a lot of efforts to make the day memorable for their juniors.
Manisha and Shikar were crowned “Ms.Fresher 2014″ and “Mr. Fresher 2014″ respectively.

A Two-days MDP titled “Individual Motivation and Decision Making” was conducted on September 22 & 23, 2014 for NTPC’s ERHQ-1 E1 to E6 Executives at Patna by Mr. Navin Kumar, Assistant Professor & Manager(Training and Consultancy), SMS Varanasi.
Day 1 was devoted to Individual Motivation and the executives filled up a questionnaire to gauge their own level of motivation. They participated in activities and brainstorming sessions to further enhance their understanding of the dynamics of self-motivation, hygiene factors and the varying role of task complexity on motivation levels in an organization.
The workshop was able to establish in their minds that the conventional notions of motivation in an organizational setting need to be revisited and how practical inputs about own self and their subordinates’ leads to enhancement of productivity.
Day 2 was devoted to explore the intricacies of problem solving and decision making especially at the organizational level. The workshop was instrumental in putting creativity in the right perspective and dispelled myths related to process of creativity, decision making, and problem solving.
The participants learnt about mind maps, six thinking hats for better individual and group decision making. The trainees also engaged themselves in games and activities to understand Affinity Diagram, Force Field Analysis, Delphi technique, and other tools of decision making. On both the days the participants sought suggestions to their workplace related issues with regard to both the topics.
RJ Shreya and RJ Gaurav from Radio Mirchi and their team was at SMS varanasi campus today with their talent hunt programme “OLX Mirchi Campus Star” .
Students of different courses participated enthusiastically and shown their talent in singing, dancing , mimicry and magic show.
Ms Stuti Upadhyaya of MBA I Semester and Mr . Shikar Srivastava of BBA I semester were declared the “OLX Mirchi Star of the Campus” from SMS Varanasi.
