Centre for Spiritualism and Human Enrichment (C-SHE) – School of Management Sciences, Varanasi in association with Stress Management Academy (SMA) organised M-Power (Mindful Parenting Power ) – A training cum interactive workshop based on the concept of psychology and spirituality.
The workshop was organised at Gundecha Club , Valley of flowers , Thakur Village, Kandivali East on August 24, 2013.
Spiritual teacher and motivational speaker Sri Sri Shuddhaanandaa Brahmachari(Founder of course in Mindfulness) along with Ms Meera Kothari , Director, GAET – Counselling & NIOS) and Dr. Nimrat Singh – Founder & Director Tangram HR, Ahmedabad conducted the workshop for more than 100 Parents.
The session began by Ganesh Vandana by Shri Kirti Anurag, a famous music director and singer .Mr. Manish Asthana, General Manager – MDP, in his introductory speech informed the audience & guests about SMS Varanasi and C-SHE. Mr. Asthana then introduced all the eminent speakers to the participants. The speakers were felicitated by presenting them bouquets.
Session 1): The first session was conducted by Ms. Meera Kothari- Director Counseling & NIOS at GAET (Goenka Associates and Educational Trust). Ms. Kothari has a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from University of Mumbai and has over 25 years of experience in Counseling. She stressed upon the emotional and behavioral aspects of Parenting. She highlighted various problems that parents face in bringing up today’s children and explained in detail all stages of Parenting. Due to her vast experience in this field she immediately connected to the participants who appreciated her session very much.
Session 2): The second session was conducted by Dr. Ms. Nimrat Singh. She is the founder and Director of a company called Tangram in Ahmedabad. Her company specializes in counseling and making psychometric tests for corporates and leading educational institutes. She is an author of a forthcoming book called Powerful Parenting. Dr. Nimrat touched upon the important points in Proactive Parenting .She highlighted how the self-esteem of a parent affects the upbringing of the child. Audience highly appreciated the session
Session 3): The third session was conducted by Sri Sri Shhuddhananda Bhramchari (Baba)-founder of the Course in Mindfulness. Babaji stressed on the fact that the most important point in today’s world is conscious parenting as compared to age-old asserting parenting. Babaji said that parents should not focus on children but essentially on their own inner life till they are centered and calm to awaken the power of spirit. Audience found the idea of blending spirituality with parenting to be unique in nature.
Independence Day is the festival for entire India and celebrated to remember its freedom from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation on 15th August 1947. Sixty seventh anniversary of India’s Independence, on 15th August, 2013, School of Management Sciences celebrated the most pious and auspicious occasion with zeal and enthusiasm. Prof. P. N. Jha, Director of SMS Varanasi, executed the activity of flag hoisting on behalf of whole SMS family.
He presented his tribute towards the leaders of the freedom struggle of India. He stated that we should generally prefer goods and services offered by India Companies. In this manner we can provide strength to our economy as a result lesser Indian currency may move outside India out of such transactions. He discussed about various social issues and public movements after independence and expectation of public related to such activities as well as results therefrom. He congratulated the faculties, staff and students on such blissful and memorable moment.
Several other activities also took place including Free Health check-up under guidance of Director Prof. P. N. Jha, Joint Secretary Mr. S. K. Singh, Registrar Mr. Sanjay Gupta along with senior faculty and staff members. Cultural programs had also been presented by several students of BBA, BCA, PGDM, MBA & MCA batches. Students had presented series of programs on various themes related to India’s Independence.
Free Health Camp was also organized to resolve dental problems of patients. Dr. Ashish Singh and Dr. S. B. Singh (Formerly associated with BHU) provided their services in the health camp.
Health Camp and Cultural events were coordinated by facuty and staff members with Mr. K. S. Mishra, Associate Professor, Dr. Meenakshi Singh, Reader and Mr. Ravi Kant Yadav, Lecturer. At the end of the programme snacks were given to students and staff members.
The first batch of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme (affiliated to the Gautam Buddh Technical University, Lucknow) got off to a flying start at the Khushipur campus of School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi amidst high profile corporate gathering who all chanted the same mantra for success: Have ‘lakshya’ (target) in life.
Inaugurating the two-day orientation programme, the Chief Guest on the occasion, Shri Sunil K Narang (Senior Director-Jackson Group) exhorted the new incumbents to work hard in life, study with focus and generate ideas to make that difference in life which makes one successful. He also stressed upon the need to have the right attitude besides being alert on the market environment front. Through his formal presentation, he also asked the freshers to identify strengths and weaknesses and respond to the opportunities and threats accordingly. He stressed upon having commitment, take challenges and be cheerful and build relationships in life so as to succeed.
The Guests of Honour in the MBA Orientation Programme, Shri A. N. Rangaswamy (Director-Advatech Cera Tiles Ltd.) and Shri Rajesh Srivastava (Head, HR-British Paints Ltd.) stressed on basics in life and asked the youngsters to give their best in life. Shri Rangaswamy talked at length about the real life scenarios in which we all have to survive and succeed. He further said, working responsibly and learning from everyone else should be the habit of each individual. Management is not about ‘jargons’ but ‘jagaran’ (alert and awake), he added.
Shri Rajesh quoted Bhagwad Gita to link success to the chain of thought-action-habit-character-destiny. He dealt with the corporate framework involving teamwork, another attribute to define success. Further, he said that we should do things which make everyone proud. He also brought to light the various measures at his organisation due to which excellence has not only prevailed but has increased multifold in the previous few years.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries and new students of the maiden batch of the MBA Course, the Director of the Institute, Prof. P. N. Jha reiterated the fact that experience is the best teacher due to which SMS could wonderfully add the MBA Course to the existing basket of professional programmes. It was this ‘grit’ which brought this programme to SMS Varanasi seeing the demand from the stakeholders and over 100 students have already joined it, he supplemented. He asked the students to utilize all facilities offered by SMS and become innovative problem-solvers.
The Vision and the Mission of SMS was presented by Shri K K Bajpai (Reader) while the Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Sanjay Saxena (Dean-Management Sciences). Shri Amitabh Pandey (MBA Coordinator) gave a preview about the MBA Programme. Also present were the Registrar, Mr. Sanjay Gupta and Dean-R&D, Mr. Alok Kumar and other faculty members. The Programme was coordinated by Dr. Meenakshi A Singh (Reader). In the end of the programme, Prof. P. N. Jha felicitated the Guests with memento of Lord Vishwanath.
Inaugurating the 17th batch of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and 16th batch of Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programmes at School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi, Prof. P. Nag, Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi and the Chief Guest of the UG Orientation Programme, exhorted the freshers to utilize technology for developing new business models. He said, integration and convergence of technology has brought immense business opportunities across the globe in areas like Development, Disaster Management, Navigation, Urban Management, Public access, Climate change, Natural Resource Management etc. He further said that remote sensing helps in business strategy by continuous monitoring of resources. He asked the students to think of becoming ‘Global players’ by having information to control resources necessary for business.
The President of the Orientation Programme for UG courses on the occasion, Prof. S. K. Singh (Former Dean, FMS-BHU) asked the fresh BBA and BCA incumbents to develop a relationship and purposeful interaction with the environment and challenge the status quo to become better managers and citizens. He congratulated them for selecting SMS Varanasi as this institution happens to be the pioneer in these courses. He requested students not to become passive listeners and put in the ‘needed’ efforts to become successful in life.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries and new students of the BBA andBCA courses, the Director of the Institute, Prof. P. N. Jha cautioned the students not to become ‘slaves’ to technology but utilize them for betterment of society as the society expects more from professionals. He reiterated the importance of being away from the crowd and equipping oneself with wisdom. The Vision and the Mission of SMS Group of Institutions was presented by Mr. KK Bajpai (Reader) while the Vote of thanks was given by Mr. KS Mishra (Dean-Computer Sciences). Dean-Management Sciences, Dr. Sanjay Saxena gave a preview about the UG Programmes at SMS Varanasi. Prominently present were the Executive Secretary, Dr. MP Singh, Registrar, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Dean-R&D, Mr. Alok Kumar, Coordinator-BBA, Mr. Atish Khadse, Coordinator-BCA-Mr. Rajiv Katare and other senior faculty members. The Programme was conducted by Dr. Meenakshi A Singh (Reader). In the end of the programme, Dr. M P Singh felicitated the Guests with memento of Lord Vishwanath.
