Hi Life Lecture Series @ SMS, Varanasi: Mr. S. Y. Siddiqui, Chief Operating Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, delivered a lecture on the topic “Corporate Warfield”
On Monday, December 24, 2012, School of Management Sciences (SMS), Varanasi organized Hi-Life Lecture Series where Mr. S. Y. Siddiqui, Chief Operating Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited delivered lecture on the topic ” The Corporate Warfield”. Addressing students and faculty members Mr. S. Y. Siddiqui urged them to follow “ME Vs ME” principle to sustain and prosper in life.
While explaining the rapid shift in the world’s economic balance of power in favor of India and China Mr Siddiqui called upon the audience to tighten their belts and be prepared to exploit the opportunities and face the challenges likely to be posed by the Volatile Global business environment.
Citing example of famous cricketer and former Indian captain Rahul Dravid, Mr Siddiqui emphasized on setting one’s own benchmark and comparing with one’s own-self to achieve the career goals.
Mr. S. Y. Siddiqui, who made his maiden visit to SMS, Varanasi also elaborated the eventuality of global business and different HR practices. Sharing his views Mr. Siddiqui stated that India is the youngest democracy in the world. Its median age lies around 24.6 years which is next to South Africa. This results in a large pool of talent and productive population which makes it an important destination for Industrial and Global economic growth. Even the most productive country in the world do not have this opportunity as they would be missing the productive age pool.
Drawing from his rich experience of more than 3 decades working as an HR expert in reputed Multinational and multi culture organizations, he compared the present day business scene with that of the 70s. He said people have become more important than anything else in the industry; even more important than technology and customers. As things can only be done by the people through their innovation and creativity. Giving examples of Japanese, he explained the importance of agility in making plan and successfully executing them for achieving the goals of growth and development. He also suggested not to copy the US culture of putting too much focus on strategy.
