15th September, 2012 witnessed the presence of Mr. Nitesh Kumar, Project Manager, IBM India Pvt. Ltd. in the lush green and adorable campus of SMS Varanasi.Mr. Nitesh interacted with MCA students and discussed about the topic of Cloud Computing.
He has discussed about bridging the gap of knowledge and experience between academic and corporate fields. He has explained the cloud as a symbol in relation with usage of internet on various sites.
He has said, “Cloud Computing is a style of computing which must cater to the following computing needs: Dynamism, Abstraction and Resource Sharing”. Further he has talked about the problem of server clashes during online operations. He has emphasized on the need of management in this segment of internet processes.
Moreover he has discussed about the challenges in cloud computing likewise customized needs of the businesses/ communities and society at large. Start-up of the Guest Lecture took place with lightning of lamp and garlanding the Idol of goddess Saraswati by the guest, followed by welcoming the guest by Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS Varanasi and Program Theme Presentation by Mr. K. S. Mishra, Associate Professor, SMS Varanasi. Mr. Abhishek Srivastava, Senior Lecturer, SMS Varanasi coordinated the program.

School of Management Sciences, Varanasi has organized one full day ‘Personality Training & Assessment Workshop’ for PGDM Ist Semester students at SMS Campus. Workshop has been conducted by ABBSCISSA HR Consultancy, New Delhi on 10th Sep, 2012. Mr. B.M. Das, Chief Operating Officer, ABBSCISSA along with Ms. Jayanti Mitra initiated the session. Sessions have been executed by several corporate trainers including Mr. Sanjay Patro, Dr. Rakesh Kumar and Ms. Deepika Shergil.
In full day long training workshop, various personality assessment and developmental activities took place including Numerical Test, Verbal Reasoning, Clerical Aptitude, Map problems, Group Discussion Activities, Story Writing & Personal Interviews. Organizers provided inputs to students on basis of their performances in various activities, on individual basis.

Two of the senior faculty members from SMS Varanasi, Mr. Alok Kumar & Dr. Sanjay Saxena (both Associate Professors-Management) were selected by Career Launcher (CL) amongst about 50 teachers who were honoured for exemplary services in the education sector in Varanasi city. The ‘Teachers’ felicitation ceremony’ was organised at Hotel Diamond, Varanasi on Sunday, September 9, 2012. The Chief Guest on the occasion was the famous ‘SRINI’ (R. Srinivas, an alumnus of IIM-Bangalore), founder member of CL Educate (Career Launcher India Ltd.). Ms. Charu Malhotra, Manager-HR, ITC Wills Lifestyle Ltd visited SMS Varanasi campus on Saturday, Septemeber 8, 2012.
During her visit to SMS, Varanasi Ms. Malhotra interacted with the PGDM students.
Ms Malhotra started off the session with a discussion about the career prospects after completion of Post Graduate Courses.
She emphasized on the need of trained human resource in the corporate arena. She has opined that Management Graduates will have to join the industry at the entry level jobs thereafter they may move ahead on the basis of their skills and managerial abilities.
She gave students insight into the working, prevailing Practices and future prospects as well as challenges of Indian Retail industry in-general and ITC Wills Lifestyle in particular.
Ms Malhotra also answered questions of students about the career prospects in Indian Retail Industry.
In the recent past the importance and use of information technology has grown tremendously in every stream of academics. Seeing such a requirement of technological update of students and need of portability of information warehouses, School of Management Sciences has been providing Laptop sets to its First Year PGDMs students. Same practice had been maintained by the institution, this year too. It is needless to mention that institution does not charge any addition fee from students, for providing laptops.
Director of institute, Prof P. N. Jha provided the computing machines to the students and congratulated them at this occasion. Moreover Registrar of institute Mr. Sanjay Gupta and PGDM Program Coordinator Dr. Sanjay Saxena and other Senior faculty and staff members had also passed on their well wishes to the students. As we all know, that teacher’s day is celebrated in honour of great teacher, scholar and former president of India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Director of the Institute, Prof. P. N. Jha started the program by lightning the lamp and garlanding the statue of goddess Saraswati along with Registrar, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Dean (Academics) Dr. J. P. Mishra and other senior faculty members.
Like previous years, this year also, our PGDM, MCA, BBA, BCA students presented colorful cultural programs including solo song, solo dance, group songs and group dances etc in honor of their teachers.
Teachers also showcased their respective talents in various categories of events.
Faculty members including Dr. Shardul Choubey, Mr. K. S. Mishra, Dr. Sanjay Saxena, Mr. Shabhu Sharan Srivastava, Mr. Shubhagata Roy, Mr. Abhishek Srivastava and Ms. Indrani Sen Gupta sang during the event.
The unmatched performances by the teachers and the students make the day memorable and everlasting in the memories of all which everyone cherishes.

The Corporate lecture series 2012 at SMS, Varanasi started with an expert lecture by Mr. Shivam Bansal , Director , J.J. Plastalloy Pvt on On August 28, 2012.
Mr Shivam Bansal , Ltd interacted with BBA III and V semester students of SMS, Varanasi.
Mr. Shivam discussed the various aspects of Entrepreneurship and its relevance in present business environment.
Mr. Bansal in his deliberations, emphasised on the main traits of an entrepreneur. He discussed about the shrinking job prospects and importance of entrepreneurial abilities for self dependence.
He also discussed the real time challenges and possible solutions to the existing problems in business operations.
Mr. Shivam Bansal; B.Tech IIT Delhi; MBA MDI Gurgaon and EDHEC Business School, France has been instrumental in steering J.J Plastalloy Pvt Ltd in the Global Economy.
