The 15th Batch of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme began at School of Management Sciences on Thursday amidst the august presence of Dr. S. Lomash, ED, BHEL, Jagdishpur, as the Chief Guest and Prof. A. K. Tripathi, IIT, B.H.U. Varanasi as the President for the occasion. Addressing the inaugural session, Dr. S. Lomash said that students are the wealth of the nation. The present era belongs to IT and proper integration of IT with management is the devine mantra for attaining corporate success. In his presidential speech, Prof. A.K.Tripathi, said that knowledge is one which liberates. The purpose of education is continuous learning throughout life. Students should concentrate on karma rather than fruits of karma. The rate of obsoleteness of knowledge is very high in IT sector. Therefore consistent efforts by students to innovate, create and disseminate knowledge is the success mantra.
The Director of SMS, Varanasi Prof. P. N. Jha in his motivating welcome address said that the environment is witnessing tectonic changes which have led to plethora of challenges for the students in future. Therefore students should sharpen their skills, competencies and business acumen to be successful in all their future endeavours. Mr. Shambhu Saran Srivastava (Reader & Coordinator MCA Course) gave the outline of the entire MCA programme structure to the freshers and encouraged them to work hard for becoming a successful professional. Mr. K. S. Mishra informed the students about the Value added programmes to be carried this year for them. Mr. K. K. Bajpai (Reader) presented the preamble of the SMS.
Other sessions were taken by senior faculty members of SMS-Varanasi including Mr. Rajeev Katare, Reader, Mr. Anand Prakash Dube, Reader, Dr. Ravi Shekhar VishalSenior Lecturer and Mr. Abhishek Srivastava, Senior Lecturer.
Earlier the programme began with the Lightning of the lamp and garlanding of the statue of goddess Saraswati by Dr. S. Lomash, Prof. A.K.Tripathi, Dr. M. P. Singh, Executive Secretary, Prof. P.N.Jha, Director, Mr, Sanjay Gupta, Registrar, SMS. Dr. M. P. Singh, Executive Secretary and Prof. P.N.Jha felicitated the guests with the Memento. Prof. J. P. Mishra, Dean, Academics proposed the Vote of Thanks. The innaugral session was coordinated by Ms. Indrani Sengupta (Lecturer, SMS). On the occasion all the faculty members were also present.
Independence Day is the festival for entire India and celebrated to remember its independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation on 15th August 1947. Sixty sixth anniversary of India’s Independence, on 15th August, 2012, School of Management Sciences celebrated the most pious and auspicious occasion with zeal and enthusiasm. Prof. P. N. Jha, Director of SMS Varanasi, executed the activity of flag hoisting on behalf of whole SMS family. He had also presented his tribute towards the leaders of the freedom struggle of India. He stated that “the value of independence can be felt by those who are still under bindings.” He has discussed various social issues and public movements after independence and their outcomes as well. He congratulated the faculties, staff and students on such blissful and memorable moment.
Plenty of other activities also took place including Plantation activity under guidance of Director Prof. P. N. Jha, Joint Secretary Mr. S. K. Singh, Registrar Mr. Sanjay Gupta along with senior faculty and staff members. Cultural programs had also been presented by students of SMS. Students had presented series of programs on various themes related to India’s Independence. Plantation and Cultural events were coordinated by facuty and staff members with Mr. K. S. Mishra, Associate Professor, Mr. Rishi Raman Singh, Senior Lecturer, Mrs. Meenakshi Singh, Senior Lecturer and Mr. Ravi Kant Yadav, Lecturer. At the end of the programme snacks had been given to students and staff members.
The 16th batch of ‘Bachelor of Business Administration’ (BBA) and 15th batch of Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programmes began at the campus of School of Management Sciences. Inaugurating the function, the Chief Guest, Prof. P. Nag, Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth said that in the post globalised economy students should work towards gaining better insights about technology management, national resource management and legal issues especially in the post UN laws, International Conventions and National laws. Citing interesting examples he emphasised that global business is a reality and hence its effective management is important.
In his address, Guest of Honour, Prof. S. K. Singh, Dean-FMS BHU blessed the students and said that it is a right time for the young aspirants of management education to study with great zeal and aspiration. He further said that development of capabilities, skills and farsightedness is an essential ingredient to get success in corporate endeavours.
The Director of SMS Varanasi, Prof. P. N. Jha in his motivating welcome address exhorted the students to make the best use of their time and sharpen their skills to become successful professionals.
The Principal Coordinator of the Under-graduate programmes at SMS, Associate Professor Alok Kumar outlined the various value-added services designed especially for career advancement of the BBA and BCA students.
The Coordinators of the BBA and BCA Programmes, Mr. Atish Khadse and Mr. Rajiv Katare respectively gave the course outline.
In other sessions the senior faculty members presented their viewpoints on different aspects of management. Dr. Meenakshi Singh informed the gathering about International collaborations while Spiritual Centre activities were highlighted by Sandeep Singh.
The Knowledge Management Centre’s role was presented by Dr. Ravi Shekhar Vishal while Ms. Indrani Sen Gupta highlighted the extra-curricular activities at SMS. Dr. Shardul Chaubey emphasised on Global Business Scenarios and Md. Wamique Hisam stressed on the need of discipline and code of conduct.
Mr. Amitabh Pandey talked about the Alumni Network on the occasion and Dr. Sanjay Saxena discussed on ‘Leadership roles’. The Computer Centre activities were highlighted by Ram Gopal Gupta while Library Resources by Mrs. Pratima Bhargava. Mr. Abhishek Srivastava presented the profile of core and visiting faculty to the audience.
