Dr. Ganesh Natarajan – Vice Chairman and CEO, Zensar Technologies visited SMS Varanasi Campus today noon.
Dr Natrajan was accompanied by his wife Dr. Uma Ganesh, CEO, Global Talent Track Pvt Ltd.
Dr Natrajan is also the Chairman, National Committee – IT & ITES, CII and a Member – Chairmen’s Council –NASSCOM.
International Accreditation Organization grants full Accreditation to School of Management Sciences, Varanasi
IAO accreditation committee has recommended “Full Accreditation” to School of Management Sciences” in the light of its overall contributions to academics, research, consulting, MDPs, EDPs, FDPs and splendid Placement Track Record and the various evidences provided by SMS Group and their overall process compliance of International Accreditation Organization.(www.iao.org)

The accreditation process was initiated with the process of application followed by submission of the required information and other annexures required for the accreditation process.
The Chapter President has visited the campuses on several occassions and submitted his detailed review, report and recommendations along with recommendations of various other members of the accreditation committtee for awarding Full Accreditation to School of Management Sciences.
The four-day long PGDM orientation programme concluded on Sunday evening at the School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi with an underlying principle from the corporate world – Be a good human being first and try to make good human beings in the organisations. Mr. Rakesh Seth (Vice President-Corporate HR, Fedders Lloyd), in his address said that character ethics is equally important as personality ethics. We should sharpen our physical, mental, spiritual and emotional quotient to make a good human being out of us. This helps us in attaining competitive edge in the competitive world. He also opined that ‘interdependence’ is more important than ‘independence’. For the same we must first synergize, think win-win and seek first to understand and then be understood.
Mr. Rajeev Gupta (Vice President-HR, Kajaria Ceramics) asked the students to recognize and reorganize their potential and then only one can emerge as a good human being. Prof. A. K. Ghose (IT-BHU) highlighted the importance of communication in the corporate world through his presentation on ‘Corporate Success’. He stressed on the importance of non-verbal communication in the corporate sector and asked the students to be ‘observant’. Mr. Dinesh Chandra Kandpal (Head-HR, CPS India, Dr. Reddy’s Lab) through his pharma sector experience highlighted how corporates are helping making India healthier through their quality Research & Development.
Other sessions were taken by senior faculty members of SMS-Varanasi: Relevance of PGDM in the Current Economic Scenario (Mr. Sandeep Singh, Associate Professor), Management Career in Finance and Banking (Prof. J. P. Mishra, Dean-Academics), HR Issues in the Corporate World (Mr. Alok Kumar, Associate Professor), Positive attitude for building career in the corporate world (Mr. Shubhagata Roy, Senior Lecturer), Emerging Marketing scenario and career prospects (Mr. Anindo Bhattacharjee, Lecturer). The Central Library structure and facilities were presented before students by Mr. Alok Kumar (Coordinator-Library) and Librarian Mrs. Pratima Bhargava.The other amenities, facilities and value-added programmes (Scholarships, International collaborations, info-tech usage, alumni activities etc.) were highlighted by other faculty members like Mr. Amitabh Pandey, Dr. Ravi Shekhar Vishal, Dr. Meenakshi Singh and Mr. Ram Gopal Gupta while the activities of Spiritual Centre was highlighted by Mr. Sandeep Singh. The consultancy and entrepreneurial activities alongwith business incubation was brought up by Mr. Anupam Kumar while the Training & Placement Cell activities got highlighted by Dr. Sanjay Saxena (Chairperson-T&P). Mr. Abhishek Srivastava informed the students about the Core faculty. The sessions were coordinated by Dr. Shardul Chaubey, Ms. Indrani Sen Gupta, Ms. Sonalee Srivastava, Ms. Shahista Saleem, Ms. Tanu Chadha and Mrs. Anjana Harish (all faculty members-SMS Varanasi). The
Executive Secretary, Dr. M. P. Singh, the Director, Prof. P. N. Jha, the Registrar, Mr. Sanjay Gupta and all faculty members were present during the felicitation function of the corporate Guests in the evening.
The seventeenth batch of the AICTE approved Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme got-off to a flying start at the Khushipur (Bachhaon) campus of School of Management Sciences (SMS) here on Thursday amidst high profile corporate presence, which included Mr. G. S. Pandey (Executive Advisor-Prism Cement), Mr. Arun Kumar (Joint President-HR, HINDALCO), Mr. Rakesh Seth (Vice President- Corporate HR, Fedders Lloyd), and Mr. Rajeev Gupta (Vice President-HR, Kajaria Ceramics).
In his Presidential address in the Inaugural session, Mr. G. S. Pandey congratulated the new comers on getting selected at the prestigious SMS-Varanasi campus for the flagship PGDM course and exhorted them to work hard in the highly competitive environment of the post-liberalisation era. The Chief Guest, Mr. Arun Kumar in his address to the elite group said that today each of us have to fight for existence. We must have passion in things we do, must add value to ourselves and broaden our horizon in order to excel in this post-liberalisation era. He was happy to see the readiness of SMS in meeting the corporate requirements through its innovative pedagogy and curriculum which are rated very high amongst our industry. Mr. Arun Kumar stressed on the five pillars of high performing organisations – Recruitment, Performing culture, Learning and Development, Career progression and Compensation & rewards systems which must be forged into every being in order to perform.
In his welcome address, the Director of SMS-Varanasi, Prof. P. N. Jha welcomed the fresh PGDM students along with the dignitaries gracing the occasion and said that ever since SMS launched the PGDM programme in 1995, the corporate world has always extended the sought support to it due to which there happens to be a strong alumni network across the country in almost every industrial sector. In about 15 years time, the PGDM alumni have now reached the top echelon of the corporate sector and are serving the country and its people through human value approach. This unique way of infusing management education in the young breed of the nation has encouraged more and more industrial houses to join the SMS culture by providing quality internships and placements. The Chairperson (Training & Placement-SMS Varanasi and PGDM Coordinator) Dr. Sanjay Saxena (Associate Professor) gave a feel of the entire PGDM programme structure to the freshers. He also highlighted the relevance of such a course in the post globalization world order and informed the gathering about the value-additions which SMS is going to add-on its existing programme structure which incorporates a plethora of activities. Mr. K. K. Bajpai (Reader) presented the preamble of SMS.
The Vote-of-thanks was given by Prof. J. P. Mishra (Dean-Academic) while the inaugural session was coordinated by Dr. Meenakshi A Singh (Senior Lecturer). The latest issue of the SMS Newsletter was released by the Guests present on the occasion. Later the Guests were felicitated by the Executive Secretary Dr. M. P. Singh and the Director Prof. P. N. Jha. On this occasion, Mr. Sanjay Gupta (Registrar), Mr. Alok Kumar and Mr. Sandeep Singh (both Associate Professors) and other faculty members were also present.
In the 4-day long orientation programme, students would be exposed to the functioning of SMS besides anecdotes on Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations, Spirituality and Human Values. by the corporate big-wigs and senior faculty members of SMS.
