Innovation & Outstanding B-School Awards for SMS Group

Complementing the fast track movements of the SMS Group of Institutions (SMSGI) in various endeavors of professional education, teaching, placements, industry-interface, inculcating philanthropic culture etc., the DNA and Stars of the Industry Group has conferred the “Innovation in Building Academic & Industry Interface” to SMSGI and the Awards were presented at a Special function at Taj Lands in Mumbai on February 12, 2011 The award is in recognition of leadership, development, innovation and industry interface of SMSGI. Library & Documentation Centre @ SMS, Varanasi

School of Management Sciences, Varanasi maintains a rich Library and Documentation Centre to fulfill the needs of the students joining different academic programmes. It has an excellent collection of more than 30,000 books on various core and specialized subjects in the fields of Management and Computer Technology.

Membership of DELNET :

SMS Library is the member of DELNET. All the faculty members and students can access the services of DELNET. The Web address of delnet online is .The users can send their query for documents which they require using the ILL (Inter Library Loan) facility through SMS Librarian.

SMS observed III death anniversary of Prof. Mukund Lal with reverence

Three years back, Prof. Mukund Lal, Founder Director of renowned B-School of the country, School of Management Sciences (SMS) left this world for heavenly abode. It was 25th of May 2008 that this management education doyen breathed his last in the early morning hours. The SMS family in his chamber paid rich tributes to this great leader who served as an undisputed leader in the field of management education and took SMS to a height what it stands today. The Executive Secretary Dr. M. P. Singh, Joint Secretary Shri S. K. Singh, Registrar, Shri Sanjay Gupta were joined by members from faculty and non-teaching staff to pay homage to this great leader. The management of the B-School has already announced a Scholarship in the name of Prof. Mukund Lal for the existing students of SMS Varanasi for all its courses where cash reward and a citation is given to each semester topper.

The management of SMS has re-iterated its commitment to follow the foot steps of its great founder and is also committed to fulfill all dreams which Prof. Lal had seen for this institution, said Dr. M. P. Singh at an internal gathering at the Institute premises in Khushipur. Prof. Lal, after retirement from FMS-BHU took charge as the Director of SMS in 1995 with about 30 students joining its flagship PGDM programme. Today the figure touches the two thousand mark amidst various landmark achievements by the Institute in the past sixteen years of its existence in Varanasi.

Delegation from Emporia State University , Emporia , USA visited SMS, Varanasi

A two members delegation comprising Dr. Gonzalo Bruce, Assistant Vice president of International Education & Dr. Dipak Ghosh, Professor, School of Business Emporia State University, KS, USA visited SMS, Varanasi on 21st May 2011.

During their visit Dr.Bruce and Dr.Ghosh, explored the possibilities of Academic and Cultural exchange between the two institutions.

Prof P.N. Jha, Director, SMS, Varanasi Dr. Meenakshi Singh , Coordinator , Center for International Relations, and Dr. Sanjay Saxena along with Mr. Amitabh Pandey were present in the meeting .

Dr. Meenakshi Singh, Coordinator,CIR ,SMS Varanasi had been instrumental in setting the stage for mutual dialogue and cooperation between two Institutions.

ESU is a public university fully accredited by North Central Association Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. ESU offers more than 180 degrees at the Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. level through its four Colleges: Teachers College, College of Arts and Sciences, The School of Business, and the School of Library and Information Management.
